3 Amusing Chrome Extensions to Customize Facebook Reactions
Facebook for the first time in history recently decided that the famous Like button just wasn’t cutting it. The full range of human emotion is far too broad to be condensed down to a single expression: “liking” something. So it added some other reactions, five to be exact: love, haha, wow, sad and angry.
They’re symbolized by icons not far off from emojis — basic, but they get the job done. But you can get way more creative than with just what Facebook offers.
Enter the Chrome Web Store. It didn’t take long for developers to hop on the opportunity of Facebook Reactions to create their own reactions. Anyone can download these extensions to Chrome and replace Facebook’s standard reaction icons with anything from cute pets to Bernie Sanders’ facial expressions.
If you’re into the whole emoji and emoticon scene, out these three Chrome extensions that can enable a wide variety of new Facebook Reactions.
1. Reaction Packs
Reaction Packs has a two-step installation process but both can be done in seconds. First you install the framework for the Reaction Packs extension through the Chrome Web Store. After that, you go to reactionpacks.com to choose the different packs you want to install. They have over 350 different reaction packs and growing thanks to the creative user base that submits them.
From rage faces to Leonardo DiCaprio to the Golden Girls, you’re bound to find something that will give you a chuckle. When you find something you like, just click the Use This Pack and it’ll automatically apply. Go to refresh your Facebook page to see your new Facebook Reactions. Note that every new image will still correspond to Facebook’s range of emotions: like, love, haha, wow, sad and angry.
Note: With Reaction Packs and every other extension mentioned in this article, only you will be able to see the updated Reactions on the computer you’re using. Everyone else will see Facebook’s default set of reactions.
2. React Your Way
React Your Way works a little differently from Reaction Packs. This technically isn’t one single Chrome extension, but rather a collection of extensions each with one set of reactions. The best place for you to start is at reactyourway.com where you can view the different bundles offered. They tend to focus on celebrities and characters: Donald Trump, Beyoncé, Mark Zuckerberg and Disney characters are all present with several others.
Click the Get It button underneath the set you want to install, which will then take you to the Chrome Web Store page for that set. Then just click Add to Chrome like you normally would for an extension.
Refresh your Facebook stage and basque in the glory of more odd reaction images.
3. Say Nope
This is somewhat of a bonus extension because it does customize Facebook Reactions… just by removing them completely. If you don’t like having different reactions show up when you hover over the Like button, all you have to do is install the Say Nope Chrome extension.
Note: For this to work best you should disable or uninstall any other extensions for customizing Facebook Reactions.
Say Nope removes all of the reactions on the Facebook website, forcing you back to the olden days when liking something was your only option. If minimalism on Facebook is your thing, there are plenty of other online tools that can help get rid of junk in your News Feed too.
